  • The area is being patched only with the existing sheetrock

  • The area is being removed and replaced with new sheetrock

  • Determine is it can be patched “as it is”

  • Will the work require multiple appointments

  • Will it require the hole to be “cleaned up” for repair

  • Will it require installing backer/supports for the patch to be attached

  • Will the are have to be contained because the project will create a large amount of dust

  • Will you have to cover any other items besides the immediate work area (4’ square)

  • Do you have all the materials needed to completed at this appointment


 

Prepare the work area by covering or protecting as required/requested by the homeowner

 

Secure the damaged area with screws or replace the damaged area and screw to framing or add supports (backer boards) as needed.

 

Apply compound/filler to the repair area

  • Apply first coat only to seal and secure in place, client will complete

  • Apply up to _____ coats and sand smooth to blend in to the area

  • Apply and texture to closely match adjacent area

 

Painting

  • Prime coat only (damaged area)

  • Primer plus 2 finish coats to the damaged area only
